Invitation

About 15 years ago, my coworker listened to the nudging of the Holy Spirit as she saw the brokenness in my life, and she invited me to her church. Although I grew up going to church, this was the first time I experienced worship music and heard about having a relationship with God, and I wanted to know more. That first invitation led me to regularly attend church, where I learned about who God was and about his love for me, and then to eventually join small groups where I grew stronger in my faith and understanding of Scripture.

As God's timing is always perfect, I see now the Lord was prepping my heart for the heartache and loss I would soon experience, so that I would be prepared to walk through a difficult time in his light vs walking through tribulations in darkness like I had before.

Today, 15 years after saying YES to the Holy Spirit, I strive to continually listen to the nudging of that still small voice in all aspects of my life: my work, my relationships, and in service—including most recently as I felt called to serve the families of Hope.

Although it turns out the Holy Spirit had been on the move throughout my life, with subtle invitations to welcome him into my heart, I am forever grateful for that extra invitation and for finally saying YES to walking in his light.
