Who We Are

Hope Community Church started meeting in Glenview in August 2021. Hope originally began as Zoom Home Church, which was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 out of a desire to support and serve those who found themselves isolated from community and without a church home. What started as a three-week Advent gathering quickly became a community working to continue what God is leading us toward. We hope to provide a welcoming environment to support each other and grow in our faith. All are invited to join us.

Hope Community Church is:

Bible Based

The Bible is the foundation for what we believe and how we live. We believe personal Bible study is a powerful catalyst for spiritual growth and that regular reading of Scripture is essential to our discipleship as Christ followers. For this reason, our weekend teaching and studies are rooted in Scripture.

Gospel Centered

We are transformed by Christ’s grace and his atoning work on the cross on our behalf, and this changes how we see and interact with our world. This grace shapes how we serve people and build relationships, and it compels us to share the gospel with others.

Pursuing Transformation

The teachings of Jesus move us to action. We don’t just believe in Jesus—we are actively trying to follow him and live out his teaching. This leads us to desire personal transformation as well as the transformation of our world. We recognize that the Holy Spirit transforms us, and we pursue this transformation by engaging in spiritual practices like worship, prayer, sabbath, fasting, and Bible study.

Building Loving Community

Our community includes our neighbors, our fellow congregants, our families, and our staff. We practice Jesus’ love with all. We believe a healthy community is filled with people whose actions show humility, graciousness, generosity, and hospitality. A healthy community is diverse, with people of different ages, ethnicities, economics, and cultures. A healthy community has leaders and pastors who are honest, transparent, and accountable. A healthy community pursues faith and transformation together and carries each other’s burdens.

Committed to Serving Our Church and Our Neighbors

We are not a church of watchers; we desire to be a church of action. Congregants and staff work hand-in-hand to discover our spiritual gifts and use them to serve our church and neighbors. God gave us different gifts and abilities, and we need each person’s contribution to fully reach our church’s potential. Our roles in the church will be based on our gifts, with women and men able to serve equally in any ministry opportunity. Together we seek to demonstrate Jesus’ love, justice, and mercy to our community and to communities who are hurting, marginalized, and in need.
