Privacy Policy
How we handle your information at Hope Community Church.
Hope Community Church respects your privacy. This page explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you fill out a form on this site, such as a newsletter signup, contact request, or prayer request, we collect the details you provide (for example your name, email address, and message) so we can respond and stay in touch.
How we use your information
We use the information you share to reply to you, provide the ministry or care you requested, and send updates you have opted into. We do not sell your personal information.
The Hope Staff Tab browser extension
Hope Community Church publishes a Chrome extension, the Hope Staff Tab, for members of church staff. It replaces the browser’s new tab page with the time, the day’s schedule, a personal task list and notebook, and photographs from the church’s own media library. It is not intended for, or offered to, the general public.
What it stores
Only what the staff member types into it: their notes, their tasks, their name, and their display preferences. To sync across their own devices a staff member signs in with their Hope Community Church email address and a one-time code sent to it; that address is stored, so their notes can be returned to them and to nobody else. No password is created and no personal Google account is involved.
Where it is stored
A copy is kept on the staff member’s own computer so the tab works without a network connection. When sync is switched on, a copy is also kept in Hope Community Church’s own database, on servers the church pays for. It is not sent to any other company.
What it does not do
It does not read the pages you visit, your browsing history, your bookmarks, or anything you type into other websites. It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking of any kind. Nothing it stores is sold, rented, or shared with third parties.
Who can see it
Notes and personal tasks are visible only to the staff member who wrote them. The shared team task list is, by design, visible to all staff. Church administrators with access to the website’s database could technically read stored notes; they are not encrypted end-to-end, so staff should treat them as they would a document on a church computer rather than as a private diary.
Other services
The current temperature is fetched from Open-Meteo, a free weather service, using fixed coordinates for Glenview, Illinois. No personal information and no device location is sent to them.
Removing your information
Uninstalling the extension removes the copy held on that computer. A staff member can disconnect a browser from the extension’s own settings, which immediately stops it syncing; a church administrator can do the same for any connected browser, so access ends when someone leaves whether or not they disconnect it themselves. To have stored notes and tasks deleted from the church’s database, email the address below and we will remove them.
